ADI Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement with Artemis Electronics

ALEXANDRIA, VA – October 27, 2021 – Allied Defense Industries (ADI), an AMS Group Company, and Artemis Electronics have signed an exclusive Distribution Agreement supporting aftermarket demand for External Auxiliary Power Units (EAPU) fitted for the M1A1 Abrams Tank, purchased by US DOD for domestic and international end users.

AMS Group CEO Ian Haley said, “AMS Group has a longstanding relationship with Artemis Electronics supporting our licensing line of business. We are excited to expand our partnership with Artemis with our distribution capabilities, supporting the EAPU on such a significant platform. ”

Artemis Electronics CEO Caryn Dickinson said, “We are also excited to expand our working relationship with AMS Group on the distribution side along with continual support on the EAPU to our allied countries.”

About the Products

The 2kW and 3kW EAPUs were developed as a response to a requirement to enhance the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank effectiveness. Each EAPU is specifically designed to provide auxiliary electrical power during periods of silent watch and to provide main battery charging. Use of the EAPUs allows for the minimization of main engine operating time as well as the provision of a backup source of power to the main batteries.

The TT-40 gas turbine engine and electronic control unit (ECU) is an integral part of the US Army’s M56 and XM58 Smoke Generator System program. The M56 smoke generator system provides coverage for large areas, providing both visual and infrared wavelength obstruction. As part of the smoke generator system, the TT-40 engine provides power with controlled bleed air and controlled exhaust temperature to disseminate obscurants.
